Like the title says, haven’t bought a machine yet. Primary use will be to mark serial numbers and designs into carbon steel, stainless steel, anodized and raw aluminum. Like to get the rotary set up as well for barrels. Watched some videos is about all the knowledge I have at this time. Alex/ Laser Everything video directed me here.

Pretty sure I want the JPT MOPA laser, not sure about 30W vs 50W. Area I would be working maybe 100X100 mm, depth in steel < 1mm probably more like 0.5 mm for serial #

100*100 working area, 30W is enough

So I see some chatter about auto focus, are all the new lasers that way now or do I look for that in the description?

Both autofocus and manual focus have pros and cons.

I had assumed it had something to do with following the marking or cut as it deepened.
